Machine Mastery Lessons Schedule

Congratulations on your purchase of a wonderful sewing machine, embroidery machine or serger! We would like to thank you for purchasing your machine from us - we strive to be one of the best dealers in NJ!

Guide classes are your passports to a wonderful sewing experience with your new machine! Classes are free with the purchase of your machine from QP's. A $5 kit fee will be charged for class #1 which will include a needle, thread & fabric. Be sure to bring the supplies listed for each class.

You must call to register for each class. Machines purchased elsewhere may purchase classes at QPs for their Bernina, Baby Lock or Elna sewing machine, serger or embroidery machine. Call the store for prices.

Workbooks are available for almost all machines. While the purchase of a workbook is not required, it is highly recommended. Workbooks are an addition to your manual and your guide classes and can help out late at night or early in the morning when you are stuck trying to do a technique and no help is available until the shop opens. Samples made in guide classes are to be put in the workbooks for future reference.

  • Featured Foot Club - a bi-monthly hands on class featuring a specialty foot for the sewing machine

  • Serger Club - a monthly hands on class for Elna, Baby Lock & Bernina sergers.
  • Top of the Line Club - is a quarterly class for owners of Bernina 200s, 730s, Baby Lock Elleageos & Ellegantes.

  • Class #1 is for all Elna, Baby Lock & Bernina sewing machines.
  • Class #2 is for all computerized Bernina, Baby Lock & Elna machines with memory & or/alphabets.
  • Class #3 is for Bernina 730s, 200s, 185s, 180s, 170s, 640s, 630s & 165s.
  • Class #4 is for all machines with the Bernina Stitch Regulator
  • Class #5 is for Bernina 730s, 200s, 185s & 180s, & Baby Lock Ellegeo's & Ellegantes
  • Class #6 is a quarterly Top of the Line Club.
  • Embroidery Class is for all Elna, Baby Lock & Bernina embroidery machines.
  • Serger Class is for all Bernina, Baby Lock & Elna sergers.
  • Software Classes are for Baby Lock Masterworks & Bernina Artista software.

Three hours - bring scissors, your machine & all it's accessories, & $5 for fabrics, thread & needle

Class #2

Two hours to explore decorative stitches, threads, memory & alphabets. Please bring: your machine, all your feet, scissors, two 12" squares of a muslin or other solid fabric & one 12" square of a thin cotton batting (not polyester batting)or two squares of a cutaway stabilizer, at least one spool of polyester or rayon embroidery thread - i.e. Madeira, Isacord, etc, one spool of Metallic thread, and embroidery needle &, a 2.0 or 2.5 double needle.  Bring as many of the following as you would like to experiment with: something to couch with - thick thread or yarn, a metallic needle, wing needle, any specialty feet, thread or needle that you would like to experiment with and your sense of adventure!

Class #3

Two hour class to learn the functions & buttons of your Artista. Please bring your machine.

Class #4

Two hour class to learn the features of Bernina's BSR foot. Please bring your machine, BSR foot, 18" square of a large floral or print fabric, 18" square of muslin for the backing, 18" square of thin cotton batting - no polyester batting! Thread to coordinate with your floral print & scissors

Class #6 – Artista 730 & 200, BabyLock Ellegante & Ellageo Owners Club

Two hours to explore more of what these great machines can do! Lets do quilting with directional stitching! Bring your machine & all your accessories, and two 12" x 24" pieces of muslin and one of thin cotton batting.  Thread and a basic embroidery kit.

Three hours - bring your machine & all it's embroidery accessories, scissors, 10 different colors of Madeira or Isacord embroidery thread, an embroidery card & $4 for stabilizers, fabrics, and embroidery needle

Serger

Two hours for all sergers. Cover hem will be another class. Bring your serger,
scissors & a different colored MaxiLock thread for each thread position.

Software
  • Artista Software

    Sat, March 15th from 10:30 - 2pm  Lets start at the beginning.  This class will be the 1st in a series, that will give you “hands on” experience with  all the features your software.   Bring your laptop !!   ( If you do not have a  laptop, please make that known and we will try and team you up with someone. )  This 1st class will review computer setup and good “cleanup” habits. We will cover all the functions in Editor Lite  including opening a design, resizing  designs and sending the designs to your machine.  We will review lettering. Then it’s on to Monograms and Design Management  with Portfolio.
    * Then to give you a feel for how easy digitizing can be, we will skip ahead a bit an actually digitize a simple design. ( If you are not bringing your computer, bring a blank CD if you want to take your work home.) Bring your lunch!  Free if software purchased at QP  $20

  • Sun, April 6th from 1-3pm.  Our 2nd in a series of “hands on”,will review monograms  and design management . (Bring your laptop to create our own monogram and/or a blank CD to take your work home.)  Then we will start to modify existing designs.  We will use:
    Align/ Arrange Tools
    Mirror Merge Tools
    Wreath Tool
    And Kaleidoscope Tool

    Time permitting we will digitize a heart shaped appliqué.  $15 - free if software purchased at QP.
